software tool

WinMaximumize is a free, lightweight productivity tool for Windows that expands an open window into the exact remaining empty space on your desktop. Unlike the standard Windows “maximize” button which covers the entire screen, WinMaximumize checks where your other open windows are and stretches your active window just enough to fill the blank gaps without overlapping them.

Because it is a portable application, you do not need to deal with a standard installation wizard. You simply download it, unpack it, and run it. 📥 Step 1: How to Download

Open your web browser and navigate to the developer’s official site or a trusted software hosting platform, such as the WinMaximumize page on FindMySoft or the original Tovi Levis Developer Site. Click the Download button.

Save the file to your computer. It will download as a compressed folder, usually a ZIP archive. ⚙️ Step 2: How to “Install” (Extract and Run)

Since WinMaximumize is portable, it runs instantly without altering your system registry.

Go to your Downloads folder to locate the downloaded ZIP file.

Right-click the ZIP archive and select Extract All… to unpack the files.

Open the newly extracted folder and look for the WinMaximumize.exe file. Double-click WinMaximumize.exe to launch it.

Note: You will see a small icon appear in your Windows system tray (the bottom right corner of your screen near the clock), which means the program is active and waiting in the background.

System Requirement: Make sure your PC has Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 enabled for the tool to function properly. 🏆 Step 3: How to “WinMaximumize” Your Windows

Once the app is running in your system tray, you can use it to intelligently tile your desktop layout.

To Maximize into Free Space: Click on any window you want to expand, then press Ctrl + F1 on your keyboard (the default hotkey). The window will automatically stretch to cleanly border all other open windows.

To Undo and Restore: If you want to return the window to its original size, press Ctrl + Shift + F1.

To Customize Hotkeys: Right-click or left-click the WinMaximumize icon in your system tray. A settings menu will pop up where you can change the hotkey shortcuts, toggle the app to start automatically with Windows, or decide what the tool should do if windows already overlap.

If you want to explore more ways to manage your screen layout, let me know! I can show you how to use Windows Snap Assist built directly into Windows, or recommend newer grid-layout alternatives like Microsoft PowerToys FancyZones.
